India
The enchanting Baghvan Jungle Lodge is located at the edge of Pench National Park, a dry deciduous forest of teak trees and meandering jungle streams.
With its open rooftop machans and large wooden decks that overlook the shady nullah (a favourite route of Pench tigers), guests to Baghvan Jungle Lodge are constantly immersed in the sights and sounds of the Indian jungle. Rich birdlife flits through the trees overhanging the machan and monkeys chatter excitedly in the dense foliage. Drift off to sleep to the distant yipping of jackal and other sounds of the jungle. The naturalists at impart a wealth of knowledge, personally researched and experienced, about the habitats, ecology, birds, trees, plants, small animals and insects of Pench National Park on their twice daily game drives and guided walks.
Charming standalone suites line a picturesque nullah (dry riverbed), surrounded by the shaded canopies of beautiful forest trees. Each spacious suite has a distinctive, contemporary bungalow feel and an ambience resembling the 1950s. Pale cream floors contrast against hues of copper and pale turquoise to create a tranquil effect. The sounds of the jungle filters through the night and guests drift off to sleep to a nightime chorus. The sandy bed of the dry nullah provides a clear path through the dense jungle for the forest's inhabitants and guests needn't be surprised to find a Sambar deer on their doorstep in the morning.
